Sign Up FreeMount Panorama is a highly demanding Australian circuit, characterized by its challenging elevation changes and unforgiving concrete walls. Success hinges on precise car control through its technical uphill and downhill sequences.
Setup Focus
- Brake Bias: Adjust forward bias for better stability under heavy braking, especially downhill.
- Suspension: A firm but compliant suspension setup is needed to handle the bumps and maintain stability through the fast sections.
- Aerodynamics: A good balance between downforce for the fast corners and drag for the straights is crucial.
Corner Analysis
The Esses
Complex of fast, flowing left and right hand corners
The Esses
VIDEO COMING SOON
Technique
Requires a smooth, precise line. Focus on carrying momentum through the sequence. Early inputs are crucial. Aim to be as straight as possible on corner exit to maximize speed onto the Conrod Straight.
Apex Strategy
The apexes are very subtle and often dictated by the exit of the previous corner. Focus on a flowing line rather than hitting distinct apexes.
The Cutting
Steep downhill right-hand turn leading into a sharp left-hander
The Cutting
VIDEO COMING SOON
Technique
Brake firmly and trail brake into the right-hander. Be careful not to run too wide on exit as the track narrows. Quickly transition to the left-hander, looking for a late apex to carry speed onto the uphill section.
Apex Strategy
Late apex on the left-hander (The Cutting) is key for a good run up the hill.
Chase and the Chase Straight
Uphill right-hander leading into a long, fast straight
Chase and the Chase Straight
VIDEO COMING SOON
Technique
The right-hander requires a good exit to gain maximum speed for the Chase Straight. Be mindful of the wall on the left. Maintain a clean line and avoid touching the kerbs on the exit to prevent a spin.
Apex Strategy
Focus on a clean, early apex on the right-hander to allow for a straight run onto the Chase Straight.

Critical Risks
Common mistakes at this circuit
- ⚠ The Wall: The concrete wall lining the track, especially on the approach to the Cutting and through Forrest's Elbow, offers no room for error.
- ⚠ Elevation Changes: The significant uphill and downhill sections can unsettle the car, especially under braking or acceleration.
- ⚠ Blind Corners: Several corners, like Forrest's Elbow, are blind, requiring excellent track knowledge and trust in your braking points.
