Sign Up FreeFuji Speedway presents a demanding blend of a high-speed main straight and a technical infield. Mastering the heavy braking zones and maximizing traction out of slow corners is paramount for optimal lap times.
Setup Focus
- Aerodynamics: A good balance between downforce for the corners and low drag for the main straight is crucial.
- Braking System: Strong and reliable brakes are essential due to the heavy braking zones.
- Suspension: A stable setup that allows for good traction out of slow corners and stability at high speeds.
Corner Analysis
First Corner Complex
Heavy braking zone into a tight right-hander followed by a left-hander
First Corner Complex

Technique
Brake as late as possible while remaining stable. Aim for the apex of the first right-hander, then immediately transition to the left-hander, looking to carry as much speed as possible through the complex. Trail braking is crucial here.
Apex Strategy
Late apex on the right-hander to set up for the left. Focus on a smooth exit.
Hairpin
Tight hairpin left-hander

Technique
This is a significant braking zone. Brake firmly and smoothly, downshifting to a low gear. Get on the power early but gently to avoid wheelspin, aiming to carry momentum out of the corner onto the back straight.
Apex Strategy
Standard apex, focus on a clean exit to maximize acceleration.
Coca-Cola Corner
Medium-speed right-hander
Coca-Cola Corner

Technique
A flowing corner that requires precise steering input. Entry speed is key. Look for a late apex to carry momentum through the corner and onto the main straight.
Apex Strategy
Late apex to maximize exit speed onto the long straight.
Main Straight
Long, fast straight

Technique
This is where you can make up significant time. Focus on getting a clean exit from the preceding corner (Turn 16) and maximizing aerodynamic efficiency. Be aware of slipstream from other cars.

Critical Risks
Common mistakes at this circuit
- ⚠ The heavy braking zone into the first corner complex can lead to lock-ups and understeer if not managed correctly.
- ⚠ Wheelspin on corner exit, especially from the hairpin, can cost significant time and compromise traction.
- ⚠ The long main straight can lead to high-speed instability and potential for overtaking incidents.
- ⚠ The final complex of corners before the main straight requires precision to maintain momentum.
